1. Make More Money as a Teacher by Seling Digital Products
Sell a digital product on Teachers pay Teachers! So many teachers use TPTs that it’s a wonderful place to grow your own business! Also, if you’re already creating props, curriculum and activities, you might as well sell them and profit off of them! Selling a digital product takes virtually no start up money, and so I always recommend getting into this field if you can!
2. Sell Physical Products
I love selling physical products, because I feel like I’m providing a lot of value! I also love being creative and making new things that help solve problems in my industry. Selling a physical product takes more work than a digital product, but there is a lot of potential to scale your business these days with Amazon and Shopify.
Many teachers in the online teacher world sell t-shirts! If you’re interested in not having to invest in inventory upfront, you can look into companies like Printfy and Printful that keep all the inventory for you and even ship out shirts with your designs for a percentage of the profits!
3. Make More Money as a Teacher by Building Your Social Media!
Social media is an amazing way to better connect with your target audience and grow your business. I always recommend teachers to get onto YouTube, because not as many teachers are willing to put themselves out there! You’re already ahead of the game if you start on YouTube and YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine in the world! Unlike Instagram, your videos rank in searches for a long time after posting!
You can make more money as a teacher by sharing your expertise in a niched down YouTube channel. Not only can you eventually make money by monetizing your channel, but you can also make money through affiliate links and a referral business (if you work for an online company like VIPKID or Gogokid.)
4. Affiliate Links
Going along with #3, having social media accounts targeted to your specific audience will help you make affiliate marketing sales! You can become an affiliate with just about any company these days, and to be an affiliate means that if you recommend a product to your followers and they buy it with your link, you receive a small commission from that company!
Amazon Affiliate is a great affiliate program to join, but I recommend only applying when you have built up your social media following to over 500 followers. You must make 3 sales (that aren’t your own) in the first 180 days in order to keep your account active.
5. Make More Money as a Teacher by Creating a Course
Courses are all the rage these days, and for good reason! More than ever, people are looking to learn and take classes online. What expertise do you have? Perhaps you can share that expertise in a course on Udemy, Teachable, or Skillshare! There are loads of free resources out there to help guide you in creating a successful online course! Eventually, when my 1-on-1 program is too large, I will transition it into an online course!
Final Tip
My final piece of advice for you is to make sure to niche down, have a mission statement, and build up your brand! I know it may sound strange…I am my own brand?! But yes! Your unique story, personality and expertise make you the best part of your business! Use your story and unique self to help others. Gain authority in your field by being open, honest, helpful and selfless! This will allow your brand to flourish and the 5 ways I listed of making more money THAT much EASIER!
