This post is a 2021 GOGOKID Review to talk about if it’s still worth applying, the application process, bookings, the latest GOGOKID bonus, and more!
I’ve been teaching with GOGOKID for 2.5 years now, and I’ve watched as the company has changed and grown throughout the years. The curriculum is still amazing as ever, and they’ve worked out a lot of the kinks that all newer ESL companies seem to have!

Is GOGOKID Worth it in 2021?
With this latest bonus, let’s start with the first main question…Is it still worth it to teach for GOGOKID in 2021?! YES! I highly recommend giving GOGOKID a go, as they are in need of more teachers…which means there are Chinese students eagerly waiting to meet you! I currently teach for GOGOKID every Friday and Saturday night PST. I love my regular students, and I average $23/hour!
GOGOKID Pros (+):
- They make the curriculum for you…and the curriculum ROCKS! I’m obsessed with it. It’s the best i’ve seen from an online ESL company!
- It’s great for those who have never taught English online before AND experienced online ESL teachers!
- Classes are 1-on-1 and only 25 minutes long! Short and sweet!
- I can set my schedule for however many or little hours I want! Talk about flexibility!
- They pay well, bi-monthly and to your Paypal or bank account! – I personally make $23/hour they pay anywhere from $14-25/hour – If you want a full breakdown of the GOGOKID pay check out this video.
GOGOKID Cons (-):
- You do have to build up bookings (bookings have been higher right now) but you will have to build up a schedule if you want to teach for them more full-time.
- This could also be seen as a plus though, BECAUSE they don’t book for you, you are in complete and total control of how little or how many hours you teach
- Hours are Beijing Time (BJT), so it may mean early morning hours for you if you’re in the USA, but I know that it’s helpful for a lot of applicants who have kids at home…get in that money before your kids get up!
- It isn’t scalable like the other businesses that I recommend starting, but it is wonderful, stable income. I used my GOGOKID income to help me fund my other online businesses because I knew it was money I could count on coming in!
- It is hard to get a raise with GOGOKID, but it is possible if you teach more full-time

Requirements to Apply to GOGOKID:
- You must be eligible to work in the USA or Canada without a visa
- You must have a bachelors degree
- You must have experience working with kids (formal or informal)

2021 GOGOKID Hiring Process
The new GOGOKID hiring process and interview is easier than it’s ever been, and you could potentially complete the application, get hired, and open teaching hours in the span of one week! Here is an overview of the entire hiring process:
- Sign up and fill out your basic information
- This should only take you about 10 minutes, and it is computer generated to either accept or deny your application depending on if you meet the requirements listed above.
- Complete the 15 minute GOGOKID recorded demo lesson!
- The demo includes a 2-3 minute self-introduction and then 10 minutes of teaching GOGOKID demo slides
- You will hear back in about 2-3 business days whether you passed or not
- Here is a link to a PRACTICE classroom that you can use that does NOT record, but is helpful to click through the slides.
- Orientation quiz
- Now faster and easier than before! Email me (danie@heydaniejay.com) if you have any questions!
- The questions will appear in red if you get a question wrong, so it’s easy to redo and complete!
- You will also need to start putting your GOGOKID teacher profile together. I have a PDF of new teacher profile tips for my referrals!
- Submit the paperwork
- You will need to make sure you have your ESL certification ready to be uploaded
- You will also need a copy of your diploma to upload
- You will need to upload a valid ID
- Sign the agreement!
- Yas!! You can now open hours! I have tips for setting up your profile for all my referrals to help get those first initial bookings! Luckily, bookings have been very high for my new referrals!
GOGOKID $100 New Teacher Bonus
With the new school term approaching in China, Spring is one of the busiest times for online ESL companies with large influxes of students! GOGOKID has stated they are offering this bonus to meet a growing demand of new students! Yay!
“Booking rates are increasing and we continue to see success with our new trial classes. This is a great time to get started with GOGOKID!
To encourage potential teachers, like you, to join the GOGOKID family and start your teaching adventure, we are extending the Spring into GOGOKID incentive. New teachers can qualify to earn $100 for signing their contract before March 31st 2021 Beijing Time and teaching with us.“
GOGOKID states that you need at least 5 days to complete the application process from state to signing, and so it’s important you don’t wait to close to the end of the month to get started!
Requirements for the GOGOKID New Teacher $100 Incentive [March 2021]:
Please note if you signed your contract last month in February, you can still qualify for this incentive, please read the requirements here. Otherwise, if you haven’t signed your contract yet, then keep reading!
- Sign the Teacher Agreement between March 1st, 2021 BJT and March 31st, 2021 BJT.
- Open a minimum of 60 Peak class slots (7:00 pm, 7:30 pm, 8:00 pm and 8:30 pm BJT) at least 72 hours before each class start time, and leave them open until they are either booked or expired within 30 days after they sign the Teacher Agreement.
- Complete at least 2 classes with an As Scheduled finish type within 30 days after they sign the Teacher Agreement.
- Teacher No-Show, Teacher Cancellation, Teacher Cancellation 2H, Teacher Cancellation 24H, Teacher IT finish type, valid parent reviews with 1 to 3 stars, or valid user complaints within 30 days after they sign the Teacher Agreement will disqualify them from receiving the New Teacher Incentive.
You must meet all of these qualifications in order to receive the bonus. The bonus will be paid to you in your next months payment on or before May 15, 2021.
